Watches -- A challenge with reflective objects

Photographing  highly reflective objects such as watches can be a challenge to say the least. In order to do this successfully great care needs to be taken to eliminate as many unwanted reflections as possible. The way we often do this is to photograph in a dark room and to card off as much as possible. We will set up a light tent and photograph in there.
There are times when even after we have done all this unwanted reflections show up. Often not seen until post. When photographing reflective objects such as these dust and fingerprints will show. Keep area clean and polish up the metal.
I love the challenge of photographing reflective objects. it forces me to pay attention to the details as well as be creative with my lighting. The more I think outside of the box in this regard makes me a better photographer when it comes to working with people.

Until next time;

Karl
